The NIU Newman Knights live out the Order's principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. As a college council, a strong emphasis is placed on the recruitment and active involvement of NIU students. Chartered May 24, 1964 the NIU Newman Center Knights of Columbus is the second oldest college council in the state of Illinois.
From helping build the Newman float for the Centennial Homecoming Parade to tailgating alongside the Newman Corn Boil during Huskie football season to planting trees on the Church property, the Knights have seen it all! Our Council holds Lenten Fish Frys, pancake breakfasts to welcome students back at the start of each semester, provides overnight security for "24 Hour Study" during finals weeks and many other activities throughout the year. |
